THE ARTIST

Zani Inder is a Perth-based multidisciplinary artist and experienced art educator with over a decade of professional practice and teaching experience. Her practice explores the intersection of precision, emotion and storytelling through drawing. Originally from South Africa, Zani has been developing her professional art practice since 2009, working across portraiture, observational drawing and mixed media. Her work is characterised by a deep attention to detail, expressive mark-making and a fascination with the subtle ways emotion can be communicated through the human form.

Working primarily in pencil, charcoal and mixed media, Zani creates highly detailed portraits and observational works that explore light, texture, movement and expression.  Influenced by artists including Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Henry Fuseli and April Coppini, Zani is particularly interested in the relationship between technical discipline and emotional storytelling.

Alongside her studio practice, Zani has built an extensive career in visual arts education, teaching students from Pre-Primary through to Year 12, as well as adults and community groups. From 2016 to 2025, she worked as a Visual Arts Teacher and facilitated school incursions, private tuition, studio workshops and community art programs. She is also the owner and operator of Ever After Art Co, an event organisation that specialises in live event and wedding portraiture, using charcoal and watercolour paints.

Zani holds a Bachelor of Digital Media and a Graduate Diploma of Education and is a self-taught fine artist. Her professional experience includes commissioned artworks, murals, teaching and illustration, including illustrating Song of Songs, written by Sue Baker House in 2023. Her workshops focus on developing strong observational and technical skills while encouraging participants to find their own creative voice.
